Meet Our Hosts

Katie Parla

R&K Host

Katie Parla

Writer, Eater, Raconteur

Katie Parla, a native of what she calls the 21st region of Italy (that’s New Jersey), always dreamed of moving to Italy. And now, 20 years after she made the leap, she’s one of the foremost authorities on Italian food and drink, in all its thousand variations. You may have seen her guiding Stanley Tucci around Rome for his CNN show, or perhaps you’ve read one of her many books (the most recent, Food of the Italian Islands, is a banger). Either way, we’re thrilled she’s helping us showcase the Piedmont and Aosta.

There may not be a single person in all of the Republic better qualified to know what to eat, at what time of year, and with whom, than Eugenio Signoroni, pictured above far left. After a long editorial career at the iconic Slow Food, he branched out to write prolifically on Italian food culture in all parts of the boot. In addition to editing the authoritative Osteria d’Italia guide, he is the host of Lievito Madre, one of Italy’s top food podcasts, and he lives in the heart of Piedmont. A perfect host for this journey.

But the highlight here is what’s at our doorstep: the gilded, glorious center of old Torino.

Cascina Galarej

Cascina Galarej

Vineyards for Days

Located in the middle of the family-run Fontanafredda vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, Cascina Galarej is a lush former farmstead offering panoramic views of Langhe wine country. Set within the community of Villaggio Narrante, a 19th-century village founded by the son of King Vittorio Emanuele, the estate features an indoor-outdoor heated pool, a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, and spa treatments with grape must from the vineyards.

Les Neiges D’Antan

Les Neiges D’Antan

Funky Little Alpine Chalet

The name translates to “the snows of yesteryear,” but Les Neiges D’Antan puts a stylish contemporary twist on the traditional family-run mountain chalet. Set high in the Alps with views to the Matterhorn, the boutique property features a fireside lounge with an excellent sound system and vinyl record collection, a serpentine stone wine cave, and a spa with an outdoor hammam and snow-melt plunge pool.

  • Keep doing what you are doing! The access and dining is amazing but I think what really makes you stand out is your team.
