Description
Presented by Roads & Kingdoms, the Anti-ICE Supper Club is a series of fundraising dinners in support of local organizations defending communities under attack—our small but vital contribution to the fight for immigrant America.
On February 3, 2026, we will join our friends at Guelaguetza in Los Angeles for a traditional tlayuda experience co-hosted by Roads & Kingdoms co-founders Nathan Thornburgh and Matt Goulding, bringing to life a culinary tradition at the heart of Oaxacan culture. Meats will be grilled on site and assembled on fresh tlayudas to order with an abundant selection of classic tlayuda toppings. This interactive experience is all about sharing, gathering, and savoring the rich flavors of Oaxaca together. Music (and dancing) will be generously provided by Clifton Weaver and Lobita the DJ.
When: Tuesday, Feb 3, 2026, 6:00-9:30 pm
Where: Guelaguetza, 3014 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles
Price: Tickets are $55, including passed food, one drink, and entertainment. Cash bar available.
Net proceeds benefit: Al Otro Lado, an organization working to support immigrant and refugee families in Southern California and across the border. Can’t attend but want to support Al Otro Lado? Contribute directly here.
Guelaguetza was established in 1994 by Fernando Lopez and Maria Monterrubio as a testament to authentic Oaxacan cuisine. Now guided by their children, the restaurant continues this legacy and has expanded to include an online store selling their renowned mole and michelada mix. The Lopez family, celebrated ambassadors of Oaxacan food in Los Angeles, have been recognized with a prestigious James Beard Award and an induction into the L.A. Times 101 Hall of Fame.
Bricia Lopez is a chef, entrepreneur, and acclaimed author. She is a partner at Guelaguetza and has authored two cookbooks. OAXACA: Home Cooking From the Heart of Mexico became an instant Amazon bestseller and earned a 2020 James Beard nomination. Her second cookbook, Asada, published in 2023, was included in The New York Times list of best cookbooks of the year. Bricia has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and judged Bravo’s Top Chef and has been featured on NPR and BBC, as well as in Forbes, Food & Wine, and the New Yorker.
Nathan Thornburgh and Matt Goulding co-founded Roads & Kingdoms in 2012 and ran the independent media company with Anthony Bourdain for years, winning numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy and a National Magazine Award. Their publishing projects include a book series with Harper Collins and Explore Parts Unknown, the digital home for Bourdain’s award-winning show on CNN. In recent years, R&K launched the League of Travelers, offering small-group culinary journeys, and R&K Insiders, a membership program that includes a new print magazine, digital editorial, and the Anti-ICE Supper Club.
“As an immigrant girl from Oaxaca, I’ve known fear, but I’ve also experienced the strength that comes from standing together in our power.”
— Bricia Lopez
