Description
Presented by Roads & Kingdoms, The Anti-ICE Supper Club is a series of fundraising dinners in support of local organizations defending communities under attack—our small but vital contribution to the fight for immigrant America.
Night three in Chicago will find us at TXA TXA Club’s all-day cafe in Logan Square, which builds on the creative culinary studio’s enthusiasm for connection and solidarity in the local food community. Guests will enjoy wine from middle brow, cocktails from Letherbee and Zissou, snacks and bites from TXA TXA Club, and a perfect Wednesday hang to raise funds for the worthy Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
When: Wednesday, May 6th, 6:30-9:30 pm
Where: TXA TXA Club Cafe: 3268 W Fullerton Ave Chicago IL 60647
Tickets: $85 per person; includes passed bites, cocktails, and wine
Net proceeds benefit: The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, a statewide coalition of more than 130 community-based organizations, faith institutions, unions, service providers, and advocacy groups working together to defend and advance the rights of immigrants and refugees. Through organizing, advocacy, and collective action, ICIRR works to push back against deportation and build long-term power for immigrant communities. “Chicago’s food culture is one of America’s richest due to the profound contributions immigrants bring to our city.”
— Liz Bendure, TXA TXA Club
“Our main focus within food sharing is collaboration,” says TXA TXA Club co-founder Liz Bendure. “We are a collective that uses our platform to invite artists, other chefs, and makers to tell their stories. Without immigrants and the sharing of stories, this rich and vital sector simply wouldn’t exist.”
TXA TXA Club is a neighborhood all-day cafe, creative catering company, and monthly collaborative supper club focused on uplifting small businesses, emerging artists, and community organizations. Created by husband and wife duo Liz Bendure and Daniel Parker, TXA TXA Club began in the summer of 2021 in their backyard as an extension of their personal art practice combined with 20+ years in hospitality. With a rotating artistic program and monthly guest chef residency, TXA TXA is about breaking through the conventional and exploring the dance that happens between food, art, and people finding inspiration from the everyday.
Nathan Thornburgh co-founded Roads & Kingdoms in 2012 and ran the independent media company with Anthony Bourdain and co-founders Matt Goulding and Doug Hughmanick for years, winning numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy and a National Magazine Award. In recent years, R&K launched the League of Travelers, offering small-group culinary journeys, and R&K Insiders, a membership program that includes a new print magazine and digital editorial. The Anti-ICE Supper Club is the successor to the Banned Countries Dinners they launched in 2017 with Anthony Bourdain and chefs from the Somali, Persian, and Syrian diasporas.
