Description
Presented by Roads & Kingdoms, The Anti-ICE Supper Club is a series of fundraising dinners in support of local organizations defending communities under attack—our small but vital contribution to the fight for immigrant America.
Our first night in Philadelphia brings us to Honeysuckle for a dinner deeply rooted in Black food traditions. Run by the husband-and-wife chef duo Omar Tate and Cybille St. Aude-Tate, the restaurant draws on Omar’s Philly and Southern roots and Cybille’s Haitian heritage. The menu relies on seasonal ingredients sourced directly from a network of Black farmers and their own farm in Pipersville, PA, celebrating ancestral grains and indigenous ingredients alongside rotating in-house art installations.
When: Monday, June 1st, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Where: Honeysuckle: 631 North Broad Street, Philadelphia
Tickets: $175, includes family-style dinner + welcome drink; wine + cocktails available for purchase
Net proceeds benefit: Juntos, a community-led, Latine immigrant organization in South Philadelphia fighting for human rights as workers, parents, and youth. Through grassroots organizing and leadership development, Juntos works to build long-term power in the neighborhood, giving community members the tools to fight their own oppression and live with dignity regardless of immigration status. If you cannot attend, but would like to support, please donate here.
“We are directly impacted by the policies and fear surrounding ICE, and supporting our loved ones and community through this initiative is deeply important to us.”
— Cybille St. Aude-Tate and Omar Tate, Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle is a restaurant dedicated to Black cultural preservation in Philadelphia, led by the James Beard Award–nominated husband-and-wife chef duo Omar Tate and Cybille St. Aude-Tate. Their work has earned serious national recognition: Omar was named Esquire’s Chef of the Year, included in TIME’s 100 Next list, and featured on Netflix’s High on the Hog. Cybille has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by the Philadelphia Business Journal, named Hospitality Star of the Year by The Philadelphia Citizen, and featured on Food Network’s Chopped.
Omar Tate is a chef, poet, and visual artist, and the cofounder of Honeysuckle. A native of Germantown in Northwest Philadelphia with family ties to South Carolina, Omar spent over a decade working in acclaimed kitchens across Philly and New York City before launching the original Honeysuckle pop-up. His goal was to tell deeper, more honest stories of Blackness in America through food, using it as a medium to explore memory, place, and time while challenging structural inequities.
Cybille St. Aude-Tate is a Haitian-American chef, author, and co-owner of Honeysuckle. Drawing on her background in African American Studies—with a particular focus on Caribbean culture and aesthetics—Cybille brings a multidimensional approach to the kitchen. Her work translates generational Haitian-American narratives into vibrant cuisine, drinks, literature, and public dialogue.
Nathan Thornburgh co-founded Roads & Kingdoms in 2012 and ran the independent media company with Anthony Bourdain and co-founders Matt Goulding and Doug Hughmanick for years, winning numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy and a National Magazine Award. In recent years, R&K launched the League of Travelers, offering small-group culinary journeys, and R&K Insiders, a membership program that includes a new print magazine and digital editorial. The Anti-ICE Supper Club is the successor to the Banned Countries Dinners they launched in 2017 with Anthony Bourdain and chefs from the Somali, Persian, and Syrian diasporas.
