Overview

Wide, Wild Tasmania

A full-throated celebration of Tasmania, an island of big landscapes, pure waters, and absurdly good produce. This journey is meant to bring you into close quarters with the luminaries of Tasmanian cuisine and products. Cheese, charcuterie, uni, abalone, plums, apples, wine—oh my goodness the wine—this island, almost as big as the Republic of Ireland, is blessed beyond measure. But it’s the people who make this place special. The visionaries and dropouts and savants who populate our time in Tasmania are all part of the beautiful life of Palisa Anderson—an icon of Australia’s food scene—and the Roads & Kingdoms world.

From island-hopping to leisurely breakfasts overlooking Mount Wellington to intimate dining experiences curated by Roads & Kingdoms, every moment is a celebration of Tasmania’s rich products and human geography.

Where You’ll Stay

The Tasman

The Tasman

Waterfront Luxury

With a history that spans from the 1840s, the Tasman is a luxury hotel overlooking Hobart’s charming St. David’s Park. Guest rooms showcase original Georgian details, including vaulted doors and restored fireplaces. Some offer waterfront views (pictured, above) from floor-to-ceiling windows. Bath amenities by local brand Beauty and the Bees and Australia-based Grown Alchemist feature Tasmanian ingredients, while beverages options highlight local collaborations with Lark Distillery and Moo Brew.

Satellite Island

Satellite Island

At the Edge of the World

On wild, private Satellite Island, we will stay in a mix of cabins and tents belonging to the proprietor of this 76-acre island at the edge of the world. We hate the word, but yes, you could call this glamping if you really wanted to. Prepare to be spellbound by raw, unbound nature.

    The World in One Island

    April 13-20, 2025

    ?

Madeira is the main island of an archipelago more than 400 miles off the coast of North Africa, a place so green that one of the first Portuguese sailors to see it exclaimed that it was just “one large garden”. And a garden it has remained, through nearly six centuries of human habitation, through slavery and sugarcane, through extinctions and evolution and the current cultural rebirth. Your hosts on this one-of-a-kind journey will be the Portuguese culinary icon André Magalhães and renowned PokPok chef and frequent League host Andy Ricker.
