League of Travelers Standard Packing List

We’re thrilled you’ll soon be joining us on a League of Travelers journey. This is our standard packing list, recommended by the team. Closer to your departure date, we will send an addendum via email with any additional items that are not on this list and are specific to your destination and time of year. Below are some additional notes and tips from travelers too, to ensure you have what you need for your luggage.

Day Pack or Personal Item

  • Passport
  • Visas (if applicable, confirm with your local embassy or consulate)
  • Two copies of passport
  • Wallet and credit cards
  • Phone, chargers, battery packs
  • Headphones / earbuds
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Medications
  • One change of clothes

Checked or Carry-On Luggage

  • Long, light pants
  • Light tops
  • Outfits for each day, plus two extras
  • Light rain jacket
  • An extra layer (sweater, jacket)
  • Swimsuit
  • 2-3 pairs of shoes, including at least one pair of sturdy shoes
  • Hat for sun
  • Toiletries
  • Bug spray
  • Sunblock
  • Dry bags or plastic bags for laundry and gifts

Leave room for gifts. Bottles, snacks, ingredients, spices, crafts, and spirits always find a way into our luggage on the way home, plan ahead and be sure you can check a bag if needed.

No need to bring local currency into the country.  You will be able to withdraw cash from ATMs when you arrive. The exchange rate is usually better in-country. For casual purchases, cash is king. Big hotels and fancier shops take credit cards.

Bring your preferred medications. We’ll have a first aid kit on hand that will include over-the-counter analgesics, but please remember to bring more than enough of any other medications, digestive aids, sleep aids, or whatever else you need to function well, as we can’t generally track those down.

Bring light clothes and be ready to layer. Long, light pants and light long-sleeved shirts are always acceptable and allow travelers to be ready for any weather. Protect yourselves from sun and bugs, as well as changes in the environment.

Note: We will make additional recommendations before departure if any items differ from this list. Please use your discretion!
