Malick Sidibé was a Malian photographer born in Bamako. Initially noted for his street photography of post‑independence Mali in the 60s and 70s, he went on to exhibit throughout Europe and the United States. In 2007, he became the first African winner of the Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale
