  • Head for wine country! Transfer to the Langhe, Italy’s most celebrated wine region
  • Visit to Cascina Tavijn, the natural wine producer in Asti Province, en route
  • Lunch al fresco organized by the contemporary Torino osteria Consorzio
  • Check in to Cascina Galarej, our home in the Langhe on the grounds of the former royal estate at Fontanafredda
  • Meal at the traditional Roero restaurant Il Centro for the iconic regional dish fritto misto

  • One last breakfast in the Langhe

  • Head to the mountains of Valle d’Aosta, the iconic dairy-and-glaciers region of the Alps
  • Dinner at Auberge de la Maison, our mountain refuge overlooking Mount Blanc

There may not be a single person in all of the Republic better qualified to know what to eat, at what time of year, and with whom, than Eugenio Signoroni, pictured above far left. After a long editorial career at the iconic Slow Food, he branched out to write prolifically on Italian food culture in all parts of the boot. In addition to editing the authoritative Osteria d’Italia guide, he is the host of Lievito Madre, one of Italy’s top food podcasts, and he lives in the heart of Piedmont. A perfect host for this journey.
